The Machinists Institute is dedicated to our mission of providing world class manufacturing training for high skilled, high demand jobs in Washington state and beyond. I am very happy to bring my years of experience in the manufacturing industry where I have built recruiting strategies, training strategies and a full HR department; all through the lens of workforce development. I’m here at The Machinists Institute to help steer the ship with oversight of programs, outreach, operations and ensuring our mission is fulfilled to connect great people with the in-demand manufacturing jobs our partner employers need to fill.

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting is an entrepreneurial proving ground, providing the opportunity to learn, grow and leave with a wealth of knowledge only real life business experiences can offer.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
I thrived in the recruiting side of College Works Painting. I excelled in sourcing potential interns and getting them excited about the opportunity. Immediately following my time with College Works Painting I held sales training roles, temporary placement management all leading towards creating my own recruiting company.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Don’t recall any specific client, but each one offered me an opportunity to learn something new about the client relationship.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
College Works Painting gave me an environment to learn that failures are part of the entrepreneurial process and that creating your own path in the business world is possible.
How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?
I mostly keep in touch with College Works Painting alums through social media and texts.

Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Nothing will be easy. It’ll require hard work and some long hours. But think of that time as an investment in your business future.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
I feel the dynamic nature of what College Works Painting offers will benefit someone in almost any career field. Some of the best lessons about recruiting, from hiring painters to future interns, I learned in my College Works Painting years.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
To be honest, some of the speeches from the Partners and some guest speakers are memories that stick with me the most. I enjoyed giving training talks in front of a group of new interns a lot.
Last words of wisdom?
Nothing is out of reach for anyone. Keep chasing your dream, and never stop learning.
