What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?I had a job offer to work at a law firm when I went out on my own. My income in my first 6 months was as much as I would have made over 12 months working for the man.
College Works Career Impact
In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting gave me a head start. Lots of people think about starting a business. CWP gives you that opportunity with more of a safety net than you’ll ever have.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
After graduation, I entered law school and also got my MBA. About two years after graduation, I started my own law practice.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
I was in constant fear of my clients and that helped me to do what was right for them.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
#1 – Sales. You’re going to face rejection, so get over it. #2 – Delegation. Spend your time growing the business, not working in the business. #3 – Dealing with problems. I only painted someone’s house the wrong color one time. Since then, many problems don’t seem as bad.
If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?
Work hard, play hard.

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
If you work as hard as possible, you won’t have any excuses.
Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?
The lessons from College Works Painting are applicable in any industry. Your other internship won’t gain you any real experience.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
One of my older customers made gin & tonics for my painters on a rainy day.
Last words of wisdom?
When I started, I figured I’d make a ton of money. I did okay for the summer, but the real value in the program isn’t in the paycheck.
