In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting has a great culture of self improvement and goal setting that provided a great foundation for my career. In addition, it helped me develop management and presentation skills that have served me well. I got started with my advertising career later than most of my peers, but was able to rise quickly due to the skills and experience I picked up at College Works Painting.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
It provided me the confidence that I could be successful at any business pursuit, along with a set of skills and experience that most graduates simply don’t have. That said, it doesn’t mean employers are just going to hand you a job upon graduation. You still have to gain experience within any specific industry you want to join, and should be prepared to start from the ground floor.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Always push yourself out of your comfort zone.

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
College Works Painting can offer you a chance to develop skills and experience that most people don’t pick up until 10 years into their career. Like you, I didn’t want to be a paint contractor when I graduated, but the business is simple enough that you can gain some very advanced experience you wouldn’t in other industries. You will learn so much about yourself during your time, that you will be able to better identify what type of position you want to work in when you graduate. And although you’ll still probably have to start in an entry level role, you will have a big head start on your peers.
