Helping teams figure out how to overcome their leadership strategy, selection, development, and succession challenges across industries and across the globe. I loop in the right consulting and project resources to execute on client initiatives and continue to manage that partnership. For over 5 decades, DDI has been by the side of leaders for the micro and macro leadership moments, creating an impact both inside and outside of the workplace. By dedicating ourselves to the science and practice of leadership, we continue bringing to life innovative ideas that have changed the way organizations find, grow, and inspire leaders. What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?Being able to have many new job opportunities and doors open up to me and finding myself in a good position to have a full time job ready for me before I graduate a year early.
College Works Career Impact
In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting has proved to be one of the most rewarding challenges I have faced, giving me the jump start I needed to launch myself into life beyond school, a new life perspective, and life-long friendships.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
After College Works Painting, I received call backs from 5 out of 6 jobs that I applied to. I ended up taking an independent contractor job with a market research company before taking a job with anthro.is. I will be graduating in June, and will most likely have a full time job ready for me before I even graduate.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Let go of the occurrences in life that you have absolutely no control over, and instead focus your energy on the things that are in your control. At the end of the day, all you can control are your actions and reactions to everything.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
This experience with College Works Painting is what you want it to be and what you make of it at the end of the day. You decide if you’re going to be one to come out of it a more successful and developed person or one who doesn’t leave any better than you came in. It is all about your attitude and your willingness to persevere when times get tough.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Get as much hands on experience as you can, as early as you can because many people want to enter the business world, but not many have the right experience to back it up. The earlier you start, the less stress you put on yourself to find a job when you graduate. Never close yourself off to opportunities because they seem too scary or because of other people’s opinions of it or because of excuses you make for yourself. The experiences you have are what you make of them and want them to be at the end of the day.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
I like how this question has to specify PG-13, that’s funny. My favorite PG-13 memory with College Works Painting was during the summer time, when even at the end of the a very long work day, my DM and another intern on the team would come over to my apartment to cook dinner, play board games, and pass out on the couch watching TV together. And then we would all wake up early together in the morning and head off to work.
