In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting was a much needed transformation in personal and professional development.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
College Works Painting opened up all the career opportunities I have now and even to the acceptance of my first full-time job. I can tell that because I did this internship I have set myself up way ahead of the game from the rest of my colleagues.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Karl and Kathleen Fry are my favorite clients. Why? We tailgate the Penn State football games together, they take me out to dinner, I visit them casually when I am home, and oh yeah… they are taking me to Maui in May :)
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Relationships are everything! No amount of money can form or repair relationships. How you carry yourself will determine your future and the people you will be associated with. Choose your friends wisely, and be the person you want working for you.
How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?
The people I have met with in College Works Painting are my best friends and always will be. The two girls I associated with the most are my best and closest friends. They visited me in Charlotte, NC last summer and we had a mini vacation together!
If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?
Creating leaders, one stroke at a time.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
YOU are your biggest obstacle in any situation. There is never anything too difficult or trying that you cannot handle. If you tell yourself you can’t do it, then you won’t. If you tell yourself I can or I will, then you’ll go further than you could have ever imagined.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Any industry or field is a business. Business skills are necessary to communicate with researchers, clients, customers, and anyone. College Works Painting is about getting you out of your comfort zone and making meaningful relationships.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
The 4th of July party at Olivia Unger’s house with Phil DiMauro, Sarah Lopez, and Olivia Unger!
