As President of GreenPointe Construction, Inc, Daniel Green currently oversees the operation of one of the fastest growing general contracting firms in the Pacific Northwest. Our core focus is providing quality reconstruction, waterproofing, painting, remodeling, design services, construction defect repair, and major rehabilitation for Homeowner Associations (HOA), apartment communities, building owners, community managers, and capital expenditure (CAP EX) managers throughout the Pacific Northwest.
What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?Selling my College Works Painting stock in November of 2011 to Barry Parker, and Co-Founding GreenPointe in March of 2012. Since it’s inception, GreenPointe has grown over 600% in the past two years, and is projected to grown 2-3x more in 2015.

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
The experience and skills that I developed from my time at College Works Painting has proven to be the foundation of my success in business, and in life.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
The decisions you make between the ages of 18-25 will dictate the way you live when you are 50. My decision to stay with College Works Painting as an intern and as DM for two years laid the foundation for my success as VP and eventually President of College Works Painting Oregon. Spending 10 years running a multi-million sales organization gave me the confidence to start my own company.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Marietta Wright – 2000 This was my 2nd job as an intern and she believed in me even though I had no experience painting houses. She ended up being very happy with the job and I received my first reference letter from this project.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Do what you have to do now, so you can do what you want to do later.
How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?
Many of my best friends and business colleagues have come from my years with College Works Painting. To this day, I seek business and life guidance from my friends at College Works Painting.
If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?
Helping to lay the foundation to any career.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
If you ever have a chance to be a DM, do it. It was the best decision I ever made and taught me the difference between managing and leading.
Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?
If I was hiring someone into a specific field, and was looking at multiple resumes with similar industry specific experience, I would look to experience out of the industry and life experience in general to make my final decision. The College Works Painting internships challenges you in so many ways that it allows you to be better prepared for the real world challenges you will face in any career.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Get involved with multiple internships, and work for a successful construction firm for a few years out of school before you decide to start something of your own.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
Seeing Barry Parker receive his National DM of the Year award in Cancun in 2009.
Last words of wisdom?

This is so true, as I am only 35 and own a multi-million dollar firm all because I challenged myself and started laying the foundation of my career at only 20 years old. Most 20 year old people in college don’t see the big picture and how it all ties in.
