College Works Painting gave me valuable life and business lessons that have carried me an enormous distance in a short amount of time.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
College Works Painting gave me the confidence necessary to walk into the interview room and own it. This might seem simple or trivial, but it is monumental. Knocking on doors and collecting checks will give you a cornucopia of material to discuss during the interview process, but it will also shape your attitude before you even walk into the interview room. College Works Painting helps to shape your attitude about your future.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
1. Life is about managing expectations 2. Under promise and over deliver
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
1. Every time words come out of your mouth, you are setting expectations. Be careful with what you say and who you say it to. 2. Hire painters early and hire them in bunches. You can never have too many back-ups. Also, if you spend time earlier on in the internship selecting painters, you will have the best selection to choose from. This is key, because painters will either make or break your business. Obviously painters are replaceable, but if you treat them as valuable pieces of your business and manage their expectations early, you will succeed.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
Favorite memory from College Works Painting was the drive, hike, and adventure to the waterfalls up North.
Last words of wisdom?
College Works Painting gives you an opportunity to fail on their dollar. This will most likely not happen when you are an adult. Take advantage of every opportunity that is being offered and do not quit.
