How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
Resume building and I more fully understand what it means to run a crew of my own people that I sourced and hired
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
The Wagner family were my favorite clients because they made everything easy on me and knew how difficult it is to manage people and paint a house in such rough shape as their’s was in. I would thank them again and again for their patience and kindness to not only me, but also to my crew.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
The need for self reliance by dealing with issues as I see fit when no other guidance exists.
If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?
No one lined statement could encompass all I would want to say about this program.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Make sure you have a great area to work in and don’t fool yourself for which reasons you want to pursue this internship. If it is an honest goal (nothing petty) then you will strive harder to reach it.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Functions in running a business are about the same as in HR just more of them in this so you get a more rounded experience of what’s fully going on in the business world. In a normal HR position I would only have to source recruits, hire/fire, set compensation, determine types of benefits(granted in this it’s more like get something done great and timely and I’ll get pizza rather than an insurance plan), and managing a workforce.
Last words of wisdom?
Pre, present, and post thoughts were that I never thought, when figuring out what I wanted to do or looking at schools, I would run my own business let alone in an internship. It’s a pretty cool experience and it felt very real!
