In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting has shown me exactly what I am capable of and because of that, no other hurdle in my life seems as daunting.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
Upper management at Kopp Glass still remembers when I interviewed with them 4 years ago and to this day, still bring up my painting internship. I know for a fact that College Works Painting is why I got my job after graduation.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
To never give up on what you start and to always exhibit integrity.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
For potential College Works Painting participants – if you really want to see what you are made of and are willing to put in the work, this is the right internship for you. For current College Works Painting participants – to keep on working hard and that all of these experiences you’re currently having are well worth it in the end. Cancun is a great time!
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Make sure that you enjoy the technical side of things and also developing yourself outside of work.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
Calling my largest customer, whose house cost $25,000+ dollars to paint, to tell him that my painters made a pretty big mistake and listening to his reaction of: “Emily, it’s okay – I know you’re going to take care of it.” And I did.
Last words of wisdom?
For any current College Works Painting intern – you’re in for a crazy ride. Stick with it and you’ll be happy you did in the future.
