In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting was the next step in my career education.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
It impacted me in two ways. First I was able to make a decision after completing the internship that my passion in business is in consulting. I talked with several clients that were in consulting fields and it encouraged me to switch from the financial field to economic consulting. The last impact was a personal change in my confidence to excel in the work place. I had very little experience before the College Works Painting internship and what I learned boosted my knowledge and time management skills.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Too many but of the names I remember! Virginia in 2009. Thanks for sharing your experiences with Mattel. I will never forget the valuable marketing experiences. Mr. Schnidaker 2009. Thank you for teaching me about persistence.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
To finish strong in any situation. Obstacles in life are everywhere but it is how you finish that will set you apart from everyone else.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Work smarter not harder. I found that I was a lot more efficient with my time and was directly more successful than other interns. For example, I took 25 credits while completing the internship in the spring semester, yet, I was able to balance College Works Painting, class, family, and fun. To stay balanced, I had to stop procrastinating and plan my week out.
Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?
Always set clear expectations with yourself, employees, family/friends.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
I feel that to enter my career field you must have several internships. My best advice is to start early in your college career. Take as many internships as possible. I would recommend taking different types of internships to determine what sector of your career field you enjoy the most. The last internship should be a company you want to work for in the near future.

Relaxing on the beach in Cancun with all of the other interns.
