In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
Learned time-management, negotiation skills, and how to start and operate a small business. Great foundation for future education and/or career goals.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
College Works Painting was definitely the highlight on my resume and what most job/school recruiters noticed and talked about during interviews.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Gary Wasserman – awesome guy nicest house ever, big time production challenges but all in all it taught me how to become an expert or craftsman.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
The importance of building a strong reputation and work ethic.
How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?
Inspired me to be great and keep going.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Be mindful of the fact that College Works Painting is one of the nations hardest internship programs, which means that if you hang tough and get through, in the end you will be recognized as hard working and stand out from the rest.
Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?
College Works Painting is a gymnasium for aspiring entrepreneurs, business leaders and mangers, where you get to practice and learn about business in a safe controlled environment with the help of the College Works Painting staff and DMs.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Be so good they can’t ignore you! Develop career capital and your craft (finance, marketing, management, etc.).
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
The on the job training with my DM and other interns.
Last words of wisdom?
Never give up because something is too hard. The things worth having and fighting for in life never come easy, otherwise we would all be rich and happy.
