College Works Painting changed my whole outlook on the meaning of a challenging experience.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
I still have yet to graduate, but one of the major takeaways I got from College Works Painting was the mindset you have to have to be successful. You can’t start your day at noon an expect to be successful, and you can’t be deterred by failure. College Works Painting forced me to go through and bounce back from failures I had never endured before, and as a result I have more mental toughness than ever before.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
The greatest lesson for me was learning the true value of clear and concise communication. Communicating clearly can make the difference between an easy job and one that turns into a huge pain.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
My advice to College Works Painting participants would be just to make sure to work hard when you’re on the clock but reward yourself when you succeed. This will be a huge help to your own personal sanity when things get tough because believe me they will.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
My favorite memory would be the last payroll event we had where we went white water rafting and stayed in a cabin over night. It was a great time to just let loose and hang out with the fellow interns and enjoy ourselves.
Last words of wisdom?
Dream big and shoot for the stars! No one achieves greatness by staying in their own comfort zone.
