What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?

My first quarter after training as a pharmaceutical rep I was at 175% to goal (over by 75%) and commission is capped at 150%. To be brand new and come out of the gate and be first in your district is really a fantastic feeling.

College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

College Works Painting is a reality check to see if you have what it takes to be successful in an outside sales role.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

The VP of my region was actually one of my very first reference I used right out of college and he was instrumental in landing me my first outside sales job. College Works Painting itself has provided me the skills and confidence to map out my career path and I am proud to say I have obtained the position I have always dreamed of because of it.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

Time management was huge. You can be the hardest worker in the world but if you can’t manage your time you will not be as effective.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

For potential College Works Painting participants you have to understand that sales isn’t for everyone and if you are looking for a 9-5 job sales isnt for you. But if you are a hard worker and a go getter the College Works Painting will open your eyes to what you have to do to be successful in any entry level sales job you get post college. Current College Works Painting participants: cold call relentlessly the better you get at approaching a complete stranger and instantly making a new friend the better you will be at sales. My first 2 years post college I would hit 50 doors a day looking for new business and unless you are inside sales you will be too!

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

It is very centered on being able to understand what the doctor views as important and being able to deliver a message on that in 30 seconds to 3 minutes depending on how much time you get. Be concise and understand what they want to learn about. Never assume! It is a great job and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Last words of wisdom?

You will get what you put into it. So put everything you can in and you will gain a ton! Always get references letters then scan them and save them. They will have the contact info on them and you can use them for networking later on in life. (I actually stayed in contact with one man I painted for and he got me an interview at my current job).
