College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

The College Works Painting internship launched my entrepreneurship spirit. It is what got me to do what I love to do most.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

College Works Painting was the foundation of my business learning.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

I don’t remember their name but they were like a second family to me. They invited me to dinner and really let me into their lives. I could always go to them for advice about college, life, work or anything really.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

When your hands on and can tough out a challenge, who you become is something much greater than if you just worked at Starbucks.

How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?

Many of the College Works Painting interns/DM’s became friends but more importantly they became business consultants. To have a network of people that think similar to you really creates a great support group revolving around success and business.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

The College Works Painting internship is going to be tough but so is life. Persevere and it will be worth it.

Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?

You could either get an internship getting coffee in your industry or do something hands on and learn that basic skills of business and communication that can be applied in all areas of your life. If it were me, I would choose the latter.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Know yourself and be true to your core values.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

For me it was all the small get together’s we had. It built a strong connection between all of us.

Last words of wisdom?

Keep giving college students the tools to succeed at building their own business. This is a great internship to either step into business or find out if small business format is right for you.
