In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
I spent a short time with College Works Painting, however, it was the introduction to the business world that it gave me that was incredibly helpful in my first few interviews. It gave me a foundation to create a dialogue and prove my potential in the business world in those conversations with employers. I wasn’t as “green” as my competition!
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Ask questions about the business process that runs it all! Learn from it. Every company will be different, but ideas, methods, and processes are transferable!
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Try to learn at least a little bit of every aspect of a business. Don’t stop there though. Don’t be afraid to hop from industry to industry right out of college, either. Don’t expect to immediately find your career. I started out working at a law firm, then moved to a healthcare logistics company where I worked with hospitals all over the country, then landed in the software world. Each of these positions were incredibly different, yet the knowledge I obtained in each was transferable and brought value to each new role.
