College Works Career Impact
In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
College Works Painting was the launching point for my career in entrepreneurship.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
My College Works Painting experience was a great insight into what being an entrepreneur really is. At the age of 18 I began to realize that if I wanted to be my own boss I would have to outwork and out perform my peers. There’s no easy path to success, but it’s the failures along the way that make you better.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
It’s sad I can’t remember their names. They asked me to paint their house orange with black trim (yep, sounds gross). They lived in Matawan, NJ and I still love driving by there because it truly is the best house I painted and still looks great. It was my first real production success, so it was a moral booster.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Don’t paint cedar shingles.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Potential College Works Painting participants: Take the leap. Very few people your age will experience the things you will in the course of a few months. Current College Works Painting participants: Don’t be scared to make mistakes.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
Well as an entrepreneurship major there is no internship better.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
Vegas was a lot of fun.
