Owning 3 properties at age 23 so that by age 30 I will earn a living off passive income, if I so chose.

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?
The real world is tough and College Works Painting ripped off the band aid and helped me to put my big boy pants on.
How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
College Works Painting gave me the sales experience to get in the door and now gives me added insight to what my boss needs from me as an employee. As a result of this insight I am the favored employee and the best at sales in the organization (other than the owner).
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Mr. Bradford 2009. If it wasn’t for him turning off his lawn mower when I was going door to door I am sure I would have failed. Painting his house and doing a great job instilled confidence in my ability to sell my business and I tripled my business because of him. If I had quit and failed to get real world sales experience I would still be living in an apartment without a beautiful wife.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
Life/plans don’t happen the way you think they will happen. Therefore prepare for everything.
How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?
I married the best woman in the world that I met because of College Works Painting. I think that says it all.
If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?
One year of real world experience is worth a lifetime in the University.

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Try out the College Works Painting internship if you want a jump start on your career. Don’t give up.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
If you are going to work at a company, with people, for a boss, doing things, you should do College Works Painting. It teaches you how to maturely work with differing/difficult personalities and how to be a professional. Uniquely, College Works Painting will give you the perspective a boss has so that you can be their greatest asset instead of a liability.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
A painter accidentally got paint on the roof. Client was super cool and we worked out a solution. Taught me the value of negotiation and customer service.

One year of real world experience is worth more than a lifetime of formal education.
