How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
Immediately after College Works Painting I started Down 2 Mob and we’ve never looked back. Wouldn’t have done that without College Works Painting.
What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?
Lawrence Licon I would want to tell him that I really appreciate the opportunity to work on his home. It was a HUGE house that was very nice. It was a huge confidence booster that I could handle a project like that so successfully.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?
How to figure it out. When I learn lessons in my business now, I’m able to make fewer mistakes but also learn from the ones I do make.
How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?
All 4 of my roommates since my College Works Painting intern year have been fellow interns from 2010. All of my best friends are from college works. Every vacation I take usually involves college works. Before college works I had never been out of the country except rocky point and now I’ve been out of the country 3 times. My fellow alumni and I have vowed that every year we’ll take at least one outrageous vacation, preferably to a beach out of the country. We went to the Bahamas this year, not sure what next year holds. Either way, college works has really shaped my work hard, play hard mentality and I love it!
If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?
Work hard, play hard.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?
Listen to your DM, be coachable, and work hard.
What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?
If you can get an internship where you’ll actually be doing the exact job you would be doing when you graduate, then maybe that’s a better option. Otherwise, you won’t find a better internship to prepare you for the real world, or even for a resume booster.
What’s your favorite memory from CW?
Skydiving with Austin. He took me for booking 15k in one weekend.
Last words of wisdom?
Take risks while you’re young. As far as accomplishing your goals, always make sure your actions align with your desires. If you can do that then you’ll get to where you want to be.
