College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

College Works Painting made me realize that any experience is a positive experience if you know how to look at the benefits of them, and nothing is too hard or impossible if you put your mind to it.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

College Works Painting helped me get more respect in the work place because I already had the managerial/executive experience so when suggesting something, people listen more.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

Don’t have a favorite, they all had different insights on what we were doing, positive or negative, just soak it all in and learn from them.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

Never give up.

How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?

Networks was amazing, clients and coworkers, use it because you never know, you may end up working for one of your coworkers or client soon after, or them working for you.

If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?

College Works Painting – Take yourself outside your comfort zone for the most rewarding work experience during college.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

Don’t give up, it’s hard, the College Works Painting internship is the hardest thing you have ever done, but it’s the most rewarding if you are willing to see that.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

If you can get through College Works Painting, you can get through any work in any industry, because it’s simple but hard enough that you touch every aspect of a business. If you can hold a budget and a timeline, does not matter what the commodity is, hold that in any industry.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

Paint training with everyone, that was quite a blast- a girl fell in a 5 Gal paint bucket first thing in the morning.

Last words of wisdom?

Believe you are the best, even if you are not, have patience and integrity with your coworkers and clients. Being outside your comfort zone is the best thing you have ever done, don’t give up because you will discover things you never knew you were able to do.
