What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?

I recently received rookie recruiter of the year for 2015 at my current company.

College Works Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CW meant to you?

College Works Painting tested me and I found out what I was made of.

How did your CW experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

College Works Painting taught me how to sell myself. Interviews were very easy because it was very similar to doing an estimate with a client. All of the phone calls I made with College Works Painting helped prepare me for my current position. I don’t make nearly as many calls as I did with College Works Painting.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

To all my clients, thanks for taking a chance on me. You helped me get to where I am today.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CW experience?

How to manage stress and how to put things in perspective.

How have the friendships and networks you built during CW affected you?

The friendships I have built while in College Works Painting have been amazing. I still keep in contact with a lot of the DM’s and other interns. We took a trip to 6 flags, spent new years together, and of course went to Cancun together.

If you had to come up with a one line slogan for CW, what would it be?

Figure it out.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CW participants? Current CW participants?

Potential College Works Painting participant- Do something in college that is going to set you apart from your peers. Just getting a 4 year degree and working over the summers isn’t enough anymore. Current College Works Painting participants- I would say that the internship eventually ends. But the friendship you gain never go away. Getting to know your fellow interns is just as important as learning everything else.

Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CW. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?

I would say that you have the rest of your life to find a job or internship in the “career” you think you want. Take the time in college to try new things. And getting sales and management experience while still in college can only help you.

What’s your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Be able to manage your time and balance your life by the time you get out of college.

What’s your favorite memory from CW?

At my first estimate with my District Manager, he tells me that I am going to close “because we aren’t booking this one”. Well after struggling to get through the contract, we booked the job! That client was also the first client to cancel on me as well.

Last words of wisdom?

“Success is not bought. It is leased and rent is due everyday.”
